Seven Things About Boys and Girls Country That You Need to Know..

At Boys and Girls Country we are always busy! I try to update and let you know what we are doing most months but it is almost impossible to keep up with everything that's going on. Here is a list of some things that you may not have heard about us that you might want to get involved in or that you can pray with us for.

Walk of Hope Tours
Ever wonder what the inside of a cottage looks like? Want to see where our kids get tutoring, counseling, mentoring and where they unwind in the rec center? Interested in learning more about exactly what it is that that we do? Want to come visit me, haha?
You need to come to one of our Walk of Hope Tours and get to see the campus up close and personal. We offer Walk of Hope Tours on most first Saturdays of the month @ 10 am.
If you are going to be in the Houston area some other time and would like to schedule a tour, or to RSVP for one of these Walk of Hope Tours, reach out to me or contact Susan Breaux via email susanb@boysandgirlscountry.org

Clothing and Donations
Boys and Girls Country is always accepting donations of new and good condition used clothing and household goods. All of our kids get to "shop" in our Clothing Closet each new season and any household items that are donated can either be used in cottages or sold for a profit. We can use all children's clothing sizes on into adult sizes for some of our older kids. If you have any items that you are wanting to give away to a charity, why not think of us first?

Commissary
As a cottage we rely heavily on our commissary for food, cleaning supplies, and other household items when it comes to supporting our kids. If you would like to hold a donations drive we are always needing items like toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, condiments, herbs and spices, rices and pastas, baking goods such as flour and sugar, canned goods, sports drinks, and household cleaning supplies. We can also use and accept gift cards.

Hold a food drive like Web's Automotive of Cypress, pictured above, did.

Pedal for a Purpose
If you missed our annual bike ride a few weekends ago, start training now for next year. This super fun event held every year benefits Boys and Girls Country and lets the athletic among us get out there and use their abilities for a good cause. The rest of us, haha, can get involved as well by volunteering at a rest stop, donating fuel in the form of snacks and water or just by being there to cheer on the cyclists. Be watching next Spring for this fabulous event!!

Other Donations in the form of Events or Activities

Our Volunteers and Mentors
We could not do what we do without the help of our wonderful volunteers and mentors. Whether its tutoring a kid up at the ed lab, providing counseling services, painting a cottage, helping with a deep clean or landscaping, helping us create a fun craft or just hanging out with our kids, our volunteers and mentors help us go that extra mile with the children we serve. And you can, too! (Again you can reach out to me or Susan Breaux, our volunteer coordinator.)
Not in the Houston area? That's ok! Pray for our kids! We need all the prayers we can get and appreciate your support through prayer more than you know!!

One of our favorite mentors, Ms Madelon Nowak.
